I am having the same issue. Looks like Norton needs to tell their support technicians. I have spent two 30 minute plus sessions with them controlling my PC only to have them tell me to empty them one at a time with no explanation.
Another vote of confidence - I am having this problem on all three of my computers, all with Office 2007 and all the latest updates. I, too, started experieincing it a few weeks ago.
Any update on when this issue will be corrected and available for down load?
Thanks,
This issue is resolved in the next version of Norton Internet Security. If you'd like to test out the fix, and are able to Beta test software, I'd recommend that you try our Norton Internet Security Public Beta:
Hi. I was the user who originally reported this bug. While I plan to upgrade to NIS2010, I have to say I’m disappointed Symantec has decided to withhold the fix for NIS2009 users (at least, that is how I’m interpretting the flow of information). If that is not the case, please post it here. And if it is the case, I think that’s a lame way to upsell the next release. Boo on you, Symantec.
As far as i have understood, within a subscription period an upgrade to a new version (from 2009 to 2010) is included?
Under this condition, i can see only the point, that a renewal for 2010 is more expensive as for 2009?
I see the problem, that Symantec has to support many Versions like 2006, 2007 etc.... and this is may be the fact why all can upgrade free of charge to 2009?
Why not keep it simple?
One Price for all products in one line for getting the updates and it doesn't matter which version is used....
Does anyone knows, that if i'm trying the 2010 beta, the subscription time is recognized so that i have not to use ever 14 days the beta activation key's?

I apologize for not being more clear. When NIS 2010 is released for resale, customers with an active subscription for NIS 2009 will be able to update to NIS 2010 for free. The remaining subscription time will be applied to NIS 2010. This way, the only thing that needs to be purchased is the subscription renewal. So there is no "upsell", just a free product updatefor customers with a valid subscription. Please let me know if you need more info on the subscription/update situation.

The subscription for your released Norton product is NOT connected to the subscription period for the NIS 2010 beta. The Beta subscription periods are completely separate. Thanks!
i have read through some Forum Messages in the Betaforum for 2010 and i can understand that Norton wants to test the Beta 2010 including the Keymanagement and the deinstall and install so that there is no bug in the setup area.
I think the main useres of Beta 2010 are people without a valid subscription, simply because the product is outstanding and it is free.
Other people like me have problems with 2009, like the problem adressed here. Additional to this problem in 2009, may be other problems in 2010 can come up, because it is beta.
I would accept, that i have to troubleshoot 2010... it is a decission which belongs to me... however... if 2010 is running on my system, it is a pain doing every 14 days a deinstall or install including new keys... what ever that meens.
I would like to see, that a valid subscription is recognized in 2010 till the final product is coming out.
In this case i think, Norton would have more Beta-Testers, some with subscription which are using 2010 in a "nearly" productive environment and some which are evaluating the complete product with deinstalls and installs.
Thanks for your outstanding support here... it seems, that the support in this forum is getting better?
