I just downloaded Internet Security 2010, and integrated the anti-spam tool with Outlook. I set it to always move spam messages to the blocked list, but it is not filtering most of the spam, and it is not moving any of the messages to the blocked list. When I open the blocked list, it is always empty. I have Windows XP on this computer if that helps.
Can you click on any of the 'spam' mails in your inbox, then click "This is Spam" on the AntiSpam toolbar. This will move the 'spam' mail to the antispam folder. Then go to the Blocked list, and check whether you can see the sender of the 'spam' mail that you have just moved, there in the blocked list

When I click on an email in the inbox, and then click “this is spam”, it moves to the spam folder, however nothing is showing in the blocked list.
Which version are you running?
17.?
Where is that info?
You can find it from Help & Support > About. Try to run LiveUpdate repeatedly until you receive all the necessary updates. Then restart the computer and check again.
What type of email are you recieving in Outlook? Is this POP3, SMTP or MS Exchange email? Is it coming over SSL (ports 995 or 465)? You can check this in the Accounts details under the Tools menu.
17.1.0.19 is the version
the outgoing server says SMTP (25), and the incoming is POP3(110)
Still having the same issue, any ideas???
Right click on one of the emails in question and select Message Options. In the pop up window, copy and paste the entire Internet Header information into Notepad. Save the Notepad file as a txt file and attach it to a post here for review. There may be some clues in the header as to what has been going on; can not say for sure without viewing the header first.
On a side note, the sender may not be added to the Blocked list as they are on the list (internally at Symantec) already. Only the names / addresses of emails that are unique to your system (not in the AntiSpam definitions already) will be added.
Here is an example of an email that I had to move to spam folder, having done so before. Will attach a couple
Issue2 has the correct tags to be moved. Issue does not and is not in the AntiSpam definitions or Blocked list.
Can you check your rules in Outlook (Tools > Rules and Alerts) to see if there are any rules there concerning moving Norton AntiSpam? If there is, delete them and close Outlook. Reopen Outlook and see if the mail is moved and the list updated.

This is a bit confusing to me.
When you say you integrated the anti-spam tool with Outlook, exactly what did you mean?
Both Outlook and NIS2010 have spam filters. They work differently. As a default, NIS is supposed to send email it has identified as spam to a folder called something like Norton Antispam.
NIS antispam is not "teachable". Identifying something as spam does not mean it will learn about that spam and block it in the future. I believe that you do have an option to block all email from that sender, but you have to invoke it.
Outlook also has options for its Junk Email; and you can divert or block the sender or the site.
Now you can, I suppose, redirect Junk Email to Norton Antispam. I'm not sure how Outlook would like that or if there would be integration problems.
Maybe you could very exactly describe how you integrated the problems, and then give an example by telling us what you expect should happen to a specific incoming email and what actually happened.
NIS2010's AntiSpam is now based on Symantec's Brightmail AntiSpam engines. It does not have a seperate folder for Norton AntiSpam to go to UNLESS the folder was there from a previous version of Norton AntiSpam (either in NIS or N360 products). If the folder is not present, then the new AntiSpam should move the tagged email into the Junk folder.
Training by reading your exisiting emails (on the intial start up / integration of Norton AntiSpam) is no longer supported as it was in NIS2009 / N360. However, in the Settings > Network Settings > AntiSpam > Allowed list & Blocked list there is a setting to automatically add names of reclassified emails to the proper list. Or you can leave this at the default setting of "Ask me" The other choices (Always or Never) are automatic settings; meaning the rule will be applied without interupting the user. These lists will be applied before any other filtering is done by Norton AntiSpam. If you search the Forum for posts from Kavitha , you will find a wealth of information on the new AntiSpam features and workings.
Ok, sorry to not respond for so long but was out of town.
by integrating, I simply mean that I chose Outlook as the default email client within NAS 2010.
So, I assume that when I mark an item as SPAM by hiliting it and clicking on "This is SPAM" on the NAS toolbar, that it will be moved to the blocked list. There are NO senders in the blocked list! After I ID a sender as SPAM, the emails from them continue to come to my inbox. It is as simple as that, although some are going to the NAS foldr that I guess is there from the prior version of NAS, which worked perfectly with outlook.
Today, when I open the NAS folder within NIS, and try to click on Outlook for client integration, it will only let me choose Outlook Express.
I'm open to any suggestions, however in my mind Symantec has taken a step backwards!
Hi lauberge

1. Can you tell us the option selected here : Settings-> Antispam->Blocked List -> Add senders of email reclassified as Spam to Blocked List?
It should be Ask me. Only then a prompt will appear while reclassifying (using 'This is Spam' option) to move the Email address to Blocked List
Incase its Always: No prompt will appear but the Email address will be added to Blocked List
2. Also can you also tell us whether you are able to add any entry manually to the Blocked List?
This will help us to investigate the issue further
3.

Outlook option under Client Integration will/can be enabled/disabled only when Outlook 2002/2003/2007 installed in your PC
Is any one of these Outlook version installed in your PC?
Thanks
