All,
Today the Norton Anti-Theft team released an update to the Window’s client , 1.1.0.23.
The Norton Anti-Theft website has been updated with this build and existing customers will get their update automatically through LiveUpdate.
This release improves the security of the Norton Anti-Theft client by requiring users to enter their valid Norton Account credentials before uninstalling.
Additionally, the lock screen dialog is now supported in Safe mode for Vista and Windows 7.
Key changes in this release:
- Password protected Uninstall
Users will need to log into the Norton Account associated with the device in order to uninstall the Window’s client.
Safe mode uninstall is no longer supported.
- Lock Screen in Safe Mode
Locked machines will show the lock dialog in Safe mode for Vista and Win 7.
Due to a technical limitation, XP machines that are locked will be prevented from booting into Safe mode. The machine will instead automatically reboot.
Additional information about this update
The patch will be downloaded automatically in the background within the next couple days depending of your client’s LiveUpdate schedule.
The update will not be applied until the machine reboots. There will not be a prompt to reboot so you will need to reboot when it is convenient.
To verify the update has been applied after the reboot:
- Right-click the Norton Anti-Theft icon in the system tray
- Click >About Norton™ Anti-Theft
- The updated version should be 1.1.0.23
