I am aware that there have been a number of issues about licenses on Norton Anti-Theft (NAT) that Norton staff have been working hard to resolve. I hope most are now sorted but I have just come across one related to mobile phones that have the Anti-Theft plugin and thought I would share my experience in case it may help someone else.
The Anti-Theft plugin on Android phones is a free app that requires the Norton Mobile Security (NMS) app to be loaded first. As NMS is not currently linked into the the main Norton licensing system this has the potential for license confusion. And that confusion does appear to occur.
I just logged onto the NAT website on my PC to check something, but was advised that my license had expired. I therefore could not access the site. Knowing that this was not sensible I started up NMS on my phone. It confirmed that my NMS license had over 250 days to run. Then I opened up the NAT link in NMS and told it to log into the NAT website (from the phone). It did so with no problem. I was then able to log back into the site via my PC. So all is working again.
So annoying, but easily solved. :-)
BUT only if you still have your phone! Not good for anti-theft software! :-(
So I hope the above may help some users but it appears to show that Norton still need to do more work on the cross licensing issues.
Good luck to you all and may you not loose your phones. ;-)
