Today Norton Anti-Virus 2012 would not open and the widget did not disply the icons showing it was "secure" it was just a blank black box that said "Norton 2012." After getting ready to post this in the forums a message popped up from Win OS 7's security center saying: NORTON ERROR: ERROR FOUND # 8504, 101. This is the second major problem I've had with Norton this year and yes I have a subscription of over 200-days left and it's nowhere near it's expiration. It runs fine daily after I had it repaired by Norton online last February because my 2011 was automatically removed from my computer by Symantec. I tried the reboot and yet...no fix and no Norton. I AM ASKING ONE OF THE TOP EXPERTS TO ASSIST IN GETTING MY ANTI-VIRUS RUNNING IMMEDIATELY! I'M GOING TO STRESS THAT THIS IS VERY ANGERING BECAUSE I SPENT ALMOST 2-WEEKS HAVING NORTON FIX IT THE LAST TIME.
Hi,
the Symantec Support articles suggest to remove the program with the Norton Removal Tool, and then reinstall it.
Here are the detailed steps for you:
1. Download latest Norton AntiVirus installer from here (this is the English one, for other languages please go to the Norton Update Center and select manual product selectoion + change the language on the site's top: www.norton.com/nuc )
2. Download Norton Removal Tool: www.norton.com/nrt
3. Disconnect from internet
4. Remove Norton AntiVirus from Start Menu or from Control Panel -> Add or Remove programs
5. Reboot
6. Run the Norton Removal Tool, reboot (repeat it 2-3 times)
7. Install Norton AntiVirus 2012 with the previously downloaded installer
8. Reconnect to the internet
9. Activate it with your old serial
10. Run Live Update until you get no new updates
You can check how the Norton Removal Tool works in this video.

This is a very lengthy process and doesn't seem to guarantee that it will work. I need answers with the solution that are absolute. This will be difficult if I can't locate where the product key is. However, if the product key is saved on my Norton account, Norton will have to recover my password. This is a process that would likely take anywhere from 45-minute to and hour to complete and may not even work. What are you alternatives to solving this problem and why is Norton Anti-Virus 2012 having so many problems? Is was there an update in late February or earlier this month that overrides the current version to the point of disabling it? I EXPECT CLEAR AND FULL ANSWERS TO EACH QUESTION BEFORE PROCEEDING! I HAVE A BUSY SCHEDULE AND HAVING NORTON REMOVED AND RE-INSTALLED AND UPDATED UNDER SUBSCRIPTION FOR THE 10th or more TIME THIS YEAR IS ENOUGH TO LEAD ME TO START RECOMMENDING MY COMPUTER CUSTOMERS NOT TO BUY IT. I WILL ALSO BE REQUESTING A REFUND FOR THIS PRODUCT IF ANY PROGRAMS ARE DAMAGED OR TAMPERED WITH BY MALWARE DUE TO THE PROGRAM I PAID FOR BEING DISABLED BY IT'S OWN INTERFACE!
