Thanks johna. Here’s the first link: “Another version …”, which will take you to this one saying that AntiBot is no longer needed. It doesn’t say you have to uninstall it first, but out of my 3 PCs I could only install NIS 2009 on the one without AntiBot.

Please see the latest post from Dave Cole for more information on this issue. Thanks!

Thank you Tony. I can appreciate that everyone was keen to get the 2009 release done. A simple note in the release posting would have saved me a couple of hours, but overall I’m happy to get rid of AntiBot. When it was first released I recall there was comment about the “technology” being included in future products.

Correct.

Some mayor parts allready included though

The retail release of NIS has undergone an important change since beta build 120: if you have AntiBot installed, NIS 2009 will not install. You MUST uninstall AntiBot first. You'll find information about this if you follow the links when you get the install error. I wish there'd been an explicit message from the installer though. Having run the betas with AntiBot I wasn't expected this last minute change. The link says you can reinstall AntiBot afterwards, but it seems there's no reason to.

Hope this message saves someone a bit of time.

I'm running Norton AntiBot and didn't receive this error when I installed NIS09. The same problem should have also occurred with the Beta but didn't.

Thanks for notifying re this issue, I'm sure the Symantec staffers will read this and offer a response. I will flag this post for the attention of the moderators.

EDIT: I was able to reproduce this issue on another system using the download from the Norton Trialware page.  We'll have to wait for a reply from the Symantec staffers on this.
