Using Norton AntiSpam (as part of my 360 product) with Outlook 2013 I have found that enabling the AntiSpam add-in significantly slows down Outlook start-up.
I have been on a Chat Session with Norton support who at first suggested it was the other add-ins (I proved it wasn't by showing the difference in start-up time with and without AntiSpam and with AntiSpam on its own). They also suggested I upgrade to Outlook 2014 but when I asked if this would fix the problem they didn't know, they just thought I should be on the latest version.
The reason finally given was that it takes a while to start-up because AntiSpam checks every e-mail every time Outlook starts. I didn't feel confident this was categorically the problem, just a theory. I was not entirely convinced and I'm not sure why the difference would be so great between Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2013.
1. Does anyone else have the same problem?
2. Do I really need AntiSpam if my ISP's provide this service?
3. Could Norton consider providing an option in the future that only checks new emails (e.g. since the time and date it last ran) or emails sent in a time period (e.g. the last 30 days)?
Thoughts or help appreciated.
