Hello Norton users,
We have just posted to LiveUpdate our Norton AntIVirus 12.2/Norton Internet Security 5.2 updaters. When these updaters go live in the next couple of hours, you should start getting these updates. This update is a huge update, and includes many changes across all kinds of components. Here's a very abbreviated summary of things we have done in this release:
- Added support for Firefox 11 and pre-release support for Firefox 12.
- Added support for Norton Together, to enable online community-based translation to Norton products. See here: http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-for-Mac/Announcing-Norton-Together-Community-Language-Packs-for-Mac/td-p/669541
- Added support for Norton Online Services, for partners offer Norton products as part of their ISP.
- Bug fixes to Norton Firewall, especially in the Location awareness feature and AutoBlock feature.
- Bug fixes to Norton AntiVirus, especially in the Quarantine feature.
- Bug fixes to Norton Identity, especially crashes and incorrect behavior in the Firefox toolbar.
- Bug fixes to Norton Licensing. This hopefully will fix the "activated product becomes unactivated" problem. Please let us know if you continue to see this problem.
- Bug fixes to Norton Vulnerability Protection and other Norton shared components.
- Performance improvements to Norton AntiVirus.
Additionally, updates to Norton Online Family and Norton One were posted. These updates include more bug fixes, support for new versions of Firefox and compatibility with Norton Internet Security 5.2.
Enjoy!
A dialog box popped up on my screen just before 11:00 am saying that my Norton products had been updated and that I needed to restart my computer. I was hesitant to restart since I had never received a message like that from Norton before. While I was trying to decide if the message was genuine, it disappeared. I assume the message was about this update--is it necessary to restart for these changes to take effect? I'm running Lion--10.7.3.
Thanks.
It is greatly appreciated and encouraged to restart after the updates were applied. We recommend you to please restart to effectively apply our fixes in the Norton Licencing, Norton Firewall, Norton Shared components and several fixes in Norton AntiVirus.
Please post if you find any problems in applying the updates. Thank you for your support!
