Norton Antivirus 2009 freezes applications

I have found a bug in recent update of NAV2009.

 

Since approximately a week ago, Norton's Auto-Protect feature freezes OrangeCD Catalog application (see www.firetongue.com) on its launch. I checked and double-checked on multiple PCs that it is indeed Norton that causes problem. The only solution I have found is to disable Auto-Protect or completely uninstall Norton Antivirus. Windows XP and Vista, with IE6, IE7, IE8 are all affected.

 

Internally, OrangeCD Catalog uses Microsoft WebBrowser control (IE component) and implements pluggable protocol handler, which is probably what Norton chokes upon. 

 

Many of our customers are affected by this bug. Some are reporting that other applications (specifically, printer and scanner software) also began to freeze since approximately a week ago if Auto-Protect is enabled.

  

Is  there any solution for this incident in sight?
