Spy Sweeper is your problem. You do not have to have somebody install NAV 2009 for you. All your doing is inserting a CD. You cannot run 2 real time anti spywares or anti viruses. You need to uninstall Spy Sweeper if you want o use NAV 2009. There are other posts about this. Also what are you using for a Firewall? If you do not have a firewall then you should have purchased NIS 2009. Norton is not casuing your problem. Norton along with Spy Sweeper is. Uninstall Spy Sweeper and your problem will be gone. Spy Sweeper is voer rated and costs. The 2 top anti spywares are free and the only run on demand. SuperAntiSpyware and Malware Bytes Anti Malware.

Hah another wacko at a store wanted to empty your wallet by loading spy sweeper and norton on the same system…Uninstall syp sweeper and see if you encounter any problems. If so, please report back.

If you actually checked your memory usage you would find out that Spy Sweeper eats up a good chunk of it. After you uninstall Spy Sweeper I can bet you that your pc will run faster.

Looks like i'm having a similar issue. The odd thing that i've noticed is that once I reach the desktop, a window opens that says NAV 2009 is initializing. That stays for several minutes and then changes to a NAV 2009 window that gives two different uninstall options. This all happens on it's own, I have yet to click anything. I then have about minute before the system freezes. If SpySweeper is the culprit. How do I go about uninstalling it? And, what about anything SpySweep has in Quarantine? What happens to that stuff once I remove SpySweeper? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

I. Boot your windows in safe mode
By the start up press F8, and a boot menu will show up for you, where you can choose between normal and safe mode. Choose safe mode, and when your PC is up, uninstall the other software.

Or when the one before not worked, here's a way to disable everything (unless microsoft services):
II. Startup your computer in a 'clean boot'

Manual steps to perform a clean boot in Windows XP
Step 1: Start the System Configuration Utility
Click Start, click Run, type msconfig, and then click OK.

The System Configuration Utility dialog box appears.
Step 2: Configure selective startup options1. In the System Configuration Utility dialog box, click the General tab, and then click Selective Startup.
2. Click to clear the Process SYSTEM.INI File check box.
3. Click to clear the Process WIN.INI File check box.
4. Click to clear the Load Startup Items check box.
5. Click the Services tab.
6. Click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box.
7. Click Disable All, and then click OK..
8. When you are prompted, click Restart to restart the computer.

Step 3
1. Log on to Windows.
2. When you receive the following message, click to select the Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when Windows start check box, and then click OK

Step 4
Uninstall your software

Steps to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state
1. Click Start, click Run, type msconfig, and then click OK.

The System Configuration Utility dialog box appears.
2. Click the General tab, click Normal Startup - load all device drivers and services, and then click OK.
3. When you are prompted, click Restart to restart the computer.

You do not have to do a clean boot. Uninstall Spy Swpper like any other program. Simply go to  Add\Remove Programs in the Control Panel. If you have Quatine items remove them first. Delete them I should say.

Yeah, when everything works fine, I would advise to ybird845 to simply uninstall the program, but as he wrote in the first post the pc froses everytime by (re)boot. So the easyest way to solve this safe mode (or if it’s not work -> ie. the setup program want to use msi, which needs RPC (it don’t work in safe mode)), than he needs a clean boot.

You acn also just try to disable realtime protection if you really like SS. I for one would reccomend to just uninstall it though

Thank you everyone for the great advice! I was able to get in and disable SpySweeper. NAV 09 and everything else runs great now. What would be a good alternative to SpySweeper? Thanks again for the help!

Uninstall Spy Sweeper completely. Download and install Malware Bytes Anti Malware which is a free on demand scanner. Update before you run a scan and scan ateast once a month or so. I actually scan once a week.
