Something else is happening. I’d suggest uninstalling and reinstalling your security software. If the problem persists, report back.
How did you upgrade to v2009? On top off?
I updated to Norton Antivirus 2009 via a CD-Rom I purchased from Best- The installation replaced my previously installed AntiVirus 2008 (uninstalled it first- but I did get an error message during the uninstall)
What version of Windows are you using (XP / VISTA ... ? include Service Packs installed? 32 or 64 bit?)
Definitely something odd going on!
Was it a clean install so far as NIS 2009 was concerned or was the earlier version still present when you installed '09?
I would give the Norton Removal Tool a try. It will un-install all Norton Products, but you get to re-install your Norton Security Product after re-starting from using the Norton Removal Tool.
