Thanks very much for the information. We cannot do anything to get safe web to work with IE 64 bit. If you want to use IE with safe web, you will need to run the 32 bit version which is also included with the Windows OS.
I assume you mean Firefox, what version do you have? It should be 3.6.13 which is the latest version.
If you go to View menu in Firefox and then Toolbars, you don't see Norton toolbar? If this is listed then make sure it is checked also.
Otherwise go to Firefox Tools menu and select Add-ons. What do you see here? You should see Norton IPS and Norton Toolbar.
To be sure, do you have any other security software installed besides NAV? Did you have any other security software installed on your computer when you first installed NAV? If you removed other security software before installing NAV, how did you do so? It is necessary to not only uninstall old security software but also run a removal tool before installing a replacement security software. Doing this prevents possible conflicts between the two programs.
Regarding Comodo, I think you are probably OK as long as you ensure that you install ONLY the firewall and nothing else.
I have not used Comodo before myself and so I have a little concern since I have seen threads indicating that there are problems sometimes when you try to install only the firewall option.
I have asked a colleague to weigh in on this as I believe she uses Comodo on one of her computers.
In Mozila = tolls, addons = only Norton IPS, do you think it would the same if i install Norton safe web lite? whats the difference from the 2 versions?
Actually i installed NAV after i removed Avast from my system.
Yes im using Firewall only but it has Defense + (HIPS) and Sandbox, so its not an basic/simple firewall thats why im a little concerned about possible conflicts.
Looking at the product comparison charts, it looks like NAV does not have Identity Safe or the Safe Web utilitiy, so Safe Web Lite would be the way to go. Last Pass is a good free password manager if you would like to have one. I don't think you will have any problem with Comodo. Defense plus is the sandbox. They should work quite well together.
Thanks guys, do you think WOT and Norton DNS would be good options to add to my security?
Mbam pro, (realtime) Comodo firewall, and Nav 2011 :)
Thanks one more time! :)
Hi dazed81,
NO, please do NOT use MBAM Pro. The free version is fine to run alongside NAV but not the Pro version since it includes real-time protection which will conflict with NAV.
