I'm running XP SP3 and Norton AntiVirus. I also have the latest versions of IE, Firefox, and and since an hour ago, Chrome.
I'm finding a problem with opening the main page of Yahoo. I can get to Yahoo mail if I type the address directly into the search bar, but I cannot reach the main page by any method. There are a number of other sites that also are blocked.
When I try to open one of these blocked pages, the page will start to load, then hang and refuse to finish loading. This has also happened with the login page for Spotback.com, and the submission pages for Kirtsy.com and Propeller.com.
Since the problem is occuring uniformly across all three platforms I'm assuming it is a firewall issue. I installed Chrome this afternoon just to verify that the problem is not browser specific.
My fix so far is to open Norton AV and turn off browser protection. As soon as I do that, all three browsers begin to act normally and will open the Yahoo main page and the other pages rapidly and without apparent problems.
I have had the issue since Saturday morning and have finally decided that my trouble isn't with my internet provider but rather, with Norton. For the moment, I have been forced to disable browser protection since otherwise I can't work, or finish some of my school assignments.
Can anyone give me some advice on what to do?
