I have Norton Antivirus 2005 and no longer use it. I believe it was part of Norton SystemWorks. A couple years ago I let my subscription lapse and when prompted by the "Norton Antivirus Expired Subscription" warning I selected "Notify me again in 15 days" and I also select "Don't show me this again." All was fine until a recently and now I am prompted by the Expired Subscription warning at least twice a day. No matter what choice I select the warning continues to annoy me. What file is triggering this warning and will deleting it stop it for good? I still use parts of Norton SystemWorks so I don’t want to uninstall it.
Can you please tell us what Operating system and service pack you are using? Also is it 32 or 64 Bit please. System Works is no longer supported by Norton. You are getting the notice because your Antivirus part is expired. Are you using another Antivirus program now? Your Norton Antivirus part has expired which means it is not protecting you at all. System Works has been discontinued. Thanks
Please come back and let us know what you are running now for an Antivirus program.
Welcome to the Norton Community. What OS and SP do you have and is it 32 or 64 bit?
What version of Norton Systemworks do you have? Is it Norton Systemworks 2005? I take you have at least the Basic version which comes with Antivirus, is that correct?
You said you let Norton Antivirus expire two years ago?!? What exactly are you using for anti-virus software now? Did you modify your Systemworks installation to remove the anti-virus component?
Also, you should be aware that Norton Systemworks has been discontinued. There will be no further releases of Systemworks.
Sorry, I forgot to include this info. I'm running Windows 2000 with SP4 (32 bit) with Norton SystemWorks 2005 Version: 8.03. I'm currently running avast antivirus version 5.0.677.

I have not modified SystemWorks to remove the antivirus component. It's been a while since I configured it and wasn't aware that was possible. If that's possible that should solve my problem, right?
If you still have the Antivirus part of System Works 2005 installed, then your Avast program most likely is having a problem too. You definitely need to attempt to remove the Norton Antivirus part of System Works if you are able to do that. by using the Control panel method and then reboot. The Utilities part of System Works 2005 is quite outdated also.
I would suggest that you post in the Avast Forum and see if you need to reinstall your Avast program since you stil had the Norton Antivirus part of System Works 2005 installed when you installed Avast. You should also ask them if the remaining part of System Works 2005 is compatable with their product.
Please come back and let us know how you made out. Thanks.
I want to thank you as well as the other responders for your help. I was able to remove the antivirus component of SystemWorks and that solved my problem of the annoying warning for good. I haven't talked with anyone about the need to reinstall Avast yet but I will.
Thanks for coming back and giving us an update. You really should check with Avast. To get your computer really cleaned out from System Works, you would need to run the Norton Removal Tool, but that would remove all Norton products including the rest of System Works. There may still be parts of the antivirus parts left since you only cleaned it out using the control panel part of the removal process. Thanks.
