Norton App Lock opens late

On a new Samsung Galaxy S23 with 256 memory. I’m using the App Lock with a pin code. When I open an app such a Gmail for instance, the app opens, emails are visible then finally the Norton App Lock asks for the pin. Shouldn’t NAL open first before the Gmail does showing emails?

Thanks for posting back.

Sometimes I notice there is a delay in the App Lock screen appearing. I never saw the kind of delay you mentioned. But as you noted, it went back to normal next time.

Keep an eye on things for a while and let us know if you still have issues.

Thank you for reply. I am happy and bit embarrassed to say that the day after posting this thread Norton App Lock started working good again. There is no reason that I could see.

I have checked your recommendations just in case to make sure the settings were correct and they were.

Can you think of any changes to your devices around the time this started happening? OS update or new apps installed to both devices, as you are seeing it on both.

What Android version is on your devices?

Is it a specific app  or apps that always have this issue? What apps?

In Android Settings > Apps > Norton App Lock > Advanced, be sure Appear on Top is allowed.

Also look in Android Settings for any battery optimizations and ensure that they are off for Norton App Lock.

Ditto with an older Galaxy S9.

It all depends on the timing of the app being opened.

Norton App Lock is a write over other apps but obviously the other app must be opened first. If your processor is fast you might see the 1st app for a few brief moments before Norton App Lock is engaged. It happens on my Galaxy S22 frequently but not always.

NAL should appear before you can view the protected app.

What Android version are you using?

A couple of things you can check. In Android Settings > Apps > Norton App Lock, check that any battery optimisations are turned off. Also look in the same Android Settings > Apps > Norton App Lock in the Advanced > Appear on Top. Be sure that is turned on.

Also check in Android Settings > Accessibility > Installed Services. Ensure that the Norton App Lock Service is turned on.
