Norton asks to be activated everytime I start my computer

well the subject really explains it, everytime I start my computer norton says it needs to be activated and everything is turned off

this happend right after pluging my friends laptop hdd in to try and move some files around because it wouldnt boot anymore so I'm guessing thats where it came from but he had norton too and it only stopped working because he killed the power when it froze while it was uninstalling something.

I'm running a full system scan but it will be awhile as I have 2 of the 3.5 TB of space I have to scan

any ideas anyone?

oh ya and I ran C Cleaner on my registry so that might be it ill try restoring my registry back to the way it was and see if that fixes it

run a scan with Malware Bytes too!(update and run)

If anything is detected then please mention here first.Sometimes removing certain threats can make things worse.

Run a scan with Hitman Pro.It has False Positives.Just to be bit more sure

Please Don`t Proceed with removal as it will make things worse only for you!!

Mention the threats found here first.

Note: Just Because Hitman Pro and malware bytes Doesn`t Detect anything Does not mean your computer is free from threats

If the system is behaving oddly like

Have A Happy New Year

Nick,

I suggest strongly you do not contact Customer Support until after you scan is completed and you let us know what it shows if anything. Firstly they are likely to charge you $99 if they think you are infected and secondly there are plenty of experts here who can help you through at least some preliminary steps to determine the cause.

To get you the best advice, would you give us some more information about your system and that 3TB drive -- wqas that external to the friend's laptop or what?

What version of Windows are you using including Service Packs and whether 32 bit or 64 bit as well as the Name and Version ID of the Norton product that you are using -- Help / About is where that is, in the format of nn.nn.nn.nnn

If you have the COMCAST version of Norton 360 / Security Suite and not the normal commercial version please be sure to tell us.

If you get any error messages please give the exact wording of them as well as any other background that could be helpful.

banmidou,

Please do not suggest contact with Customer Support until we get a chance to get more information on the problem.
