Sorry I'm posting to your post ... but I couldn't find anywhere to submit a direct question! Anyway ... yesterday I worked with one of your technicians, deleting and re-installing Norton 10.2 for my Mac (OSX 10.4.11). Thought it solved the problem ... but it's back. Specifically, Norton Auto Protect runs in the background at about 2% of my available processor level. HOWEVER, after 2+ hours of moderate use I find my fans running at full bore. When I check the "Activity Monitor" I find Norton to be using anywhere from 25% to 65% of my CPU. When I try to do a forced quit of Norton through my Activity Monitor, I get a permanent lockup of my system and Norton must be running at about 100% requiring me to manually shutdown my computer for a restart. Other than dumping Norton, what are my options?!

hi Dominik!

Sounds like our patch to cool people's offices by constantly using their fans has backfired...kidding! Sounds more like Auto-Protect is stuck on some file.

Can you drop me an email at mike_romo@symantec.com? We'll get you fixed up, promise.

thanks,

mike
