Norton Backup Failing to Activate

I changed from the Norton purchased product to NIS that comes with Comcast Cable. It is NIS Version 21. When I installed the Comcast version, it removed the Norton purchased product. I had a test version of Norton On Line Backup activated (I think).

The Comcast version of Norton NIS does not include On Line Backup. Now, I get constant alerts that I need to reactivate My On Line Backup with my new product.

When I switched to Comcast, I got a new email address. When I opened my Norton account, I used my new Address. Although I don't want to use the Old Online Backup I tried to reactivate it to get rid of the alerts. However, Norton reports that I don't hanve any Norton Products.

Although I don't still have my Verizon email address, I can still log into my old account screen and see my purchase history and they are all closed or cancelled; so I have no new product on which to activate my On Line Back up account.

I BELIEVE THE SOUTION TO MY PROBLEM COULD BE ACHIEVED IF I COULD JUST DELETE THE OLD On Line Backup account so that Norton doesn't see it and want me to reactivate it.

Additional Info (1). I have 2 PCs and I get the same alert on both PCs. (2). I have used the Removal Tool and Re-installation procedure as recommended by Norton and It has not helped a bit.

PLEASE HELP ME - it is not a simple process to cancel the warning when it appears. I have to go thru several screens until I finally get to the "Account is not available at this time. Please try again later".

Hello,

I am struggling to get my online back working once again. I used to use it, then let it expire. Today I renewed the subscription on my account, but my Norton 360 will not run it. Everytime, I attempt to run the backup, I get the message "Please logon to Norton Account and activate your online backup subscription" "0 files backed up".

I have used the support -->subscription status to try and sync as recommended. I have also tried logging into the backup service via the web address and submitting my product code. Everything I have tried and can think of does not work, which makes my payment redundent atm, because im not getting anything.

I have checked my startup and ensured that the online backup starts when I boot up. I have tried downloading from the link in my account but when I click to download, nothing happens. So I think there is an error there too.

Could you help me please or advise on something next? I am ok to alter any necessary files if you tell me where the location is needed as I did this when the error happened with the Vault problem recently.

FYI I am using Windows 8 and Norton 360. Last time I used backup I believe was in March 2013.

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

Kindest regards,

David

Hi aider_h - thanks very much, this seems to have solved it.

Hi,

I have a subscription to Norton 360, with 65 days remaining. Suddenly, Norton has started saying that my online backup subscription is not activated. In the Status part of the Account screen, it says "Online Backup Not Activated". When I try to run the backup, it stops with status 'Error'; then I click on View Details, and it says "Please log on to Norton account and activate your online backup subscription". This has never happened before - the backup has been working regularly until now.

So I logged on to my account, folowed the link to "Getting Started with Norton Online Backup", clicked on Activate, and got a screen that doesn't seem to be of any use (https://nobu.backup.com/) - it doesn't offer any way of activating.

Does anyone have any idea why the backup has become deactivated, or how to resolve this? In case it helps, I'm using Windows 8.

Thanks in advance for any help.
