Getting back to using Norton backup after a number of years using Windows File History - curious about a few things (apologies for lumping these into one post - if I need deep diving on any particular I'll setup a new thread).
- After the backup set is run I can see the backup completion status and list of files via View Recent History, is there any way to determine a count of files (count / total size) so I can use that as a sanity check that no files got missed or skipped over for some reason? It's a bit messy trying to get the count from the list shown there...
- Does Norton Backup support keeping multiple versions of a file? Note that I'm backing up to a local external drive as opposed to Cloud (but may look at Cloud later).
- If I later need to access files from a Norton Backup, but no longer have the software (a few years later I come across a backup I did and want some of the files), is there a way to do that or it's basically lost data?
- Regarding Cloud backup, my thoughts are to have a full backup to my external drive, and incremental ones to the Cloud service (which has far less space available) - I would store the external drive at an offsite location so that overall my data is safe. I notice when I backup to the external drive that each time it's just backing up changed / new files as compared to the previous backup. Would it do the same if my first backup was using one backup set to a local ext drive, and subsequent ones with a different backup to the Cloud service (set to run every so often)?
Thanks for any tips!
Cheers
James
