I purchased a USB2 card with 4+1internal USB slots for my PC.
I am on “Window XP” also “Norton 360 all in one security”
I was using a USB stick on the internal USB as my backup through Norton 360 backup.
My problem is, I forgot about the stick when I decided my PC needed to be formatted.
Should formatting have affected the USB stick? I thought it would have been safe.
When I had finished formatting and loaded all my programs back on to the PC plus Norton 360 I could not get anything to recognise the USB stick. When I tried I was told the stick needs formatting before it can be used. This I do not want to do until there is no chance of recovery.
I got in touch with Norton support who were helpful, but I find typing to explain is difficult and think I gave the impression that I had lost the Data. I have since been able to get some kind of files off the memory stick and onto another memory stick, but the extensions are cur, toc, ppt, anm, dll, xls, jpg and one png. At least it’s showing me the Data is still there but I haven’t the means to restore it.
The first memory stick hasn’t been altered its still showing full when its only under half full.
My thought is that the information to restore these files was deleted off the HDD when I formatted the drive.
If for some reason my HDD packed in altogether would the information to restore the backup be lost also.
Question is. Can the correct Data be restored off the memory stick?
