Norton Blocks Academic, News Sites

OK. Here goes. I'm an adult male with an addiction to online adult entertainment. On the advice of my therapist, I installed Norton Parental Control on my PC, Android phone and iPad to make it more difficult and cumbersome for me to give in to my worst impulses. It works fine on the PC and the Android phone, but it overeaches on the iPad, blocking the Economist, Harvard Law Review, Bloomberg, Times of London, etc. The iPad is practically unusable and I've had to uninstall the norton parental control and reinstall it several times. It still doesn't work as it should. Any suggestions? And I've checked the settings. It is not set to block news, academic and law sites, but it blocks them anyway. Surely it should know the difference between Harvard Law School and Penthouse?

Please don't make fun. I wish I didn't have this problem.

This may not be the Norton Family app blocking those sites. It sounds like you may have the VPN feature enabled on the iPad. Many web sites do not allow access from known VPN IP addresses. They do this for copyright, legal, security, and political reasons. There is nothing a VPN provider can or should do to circumvent these legal protections. See this How to Geeks article.   https://www.howtogeek.com/403771/why-do-some-websites-block-vpns/  From the main Norton 360 interface, tap on Privacy > VPN. If the feature is on, turn it off and check those blocked sites again.

If the VPN is already off, and you are still being blocked, you should post in the Norton Family forum board for better exposure to Norton Family users.  https://community.norton.com/en/forums/norton-family
