Issue abstract:
Detailed description: About every three days, my desktop PC (Dell Tower) loses all connection to the Internet; neither Ethernet nor Wifi works. When I have the issue, I can’t “ping” any external sites, or even my DNS server. On one of these occasions, SpeedTest worked when nothing else did; but since then, not even SpeedTest worked. It’s not my router (all the other Internet devices in my house work quite OK); I have uninstalled / reinstalled Norton twice. When it happens, I disable all Norton features, including virus protection and smart firewall, and this does not restore access. Possibly related symptom: every few days, Norton thinks I’m on a new network and scans the network. Any thoughts??? I am just about to switch to a different security product if I can’t get Norton to work.
Product & version number: Norton 360 25.5.10141 (build 25.5.10141.934)
OS details: Windows 11 with Windows Update turned on
What is the error message you are seeing? “No internet connection” on all browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox)

A variation on the above issue is happening to me.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Laptop with up to date Norton 360 subscription and Windows 11. Over the last 2 years I had about 6 instances of the wifi icon disappearing from the bottom right part of the screen. I had traced it to Norton mistakenly thinking that my home wifi network was public. Once i realised the problem, I was able to deal with it. Today, for the first time in at least 6 months, same think happened. This time, on opening Norton, I cannot find an option to flip the network status from public to private - it already is set to private. But interestingly, there only seems to be a “Smart” firewall option. With much trepidation, I disabled all that I could in Norton and it still doesn’t work. I also tried all the troubleshooting tips that i could find in Windows itself. Incidentally, I have turned off the computer completely a few times and my desktop that uses a different anti-virus provider works well. Wifi is working on my iphone. I have no idea what I might try next. NB: I have only v basic computer knowledge, but am able to follow instructions faithfully - which i have done. thanks
Incidentally, the above post is showing as having been posted in June 2025 - it was posted on 12April 2026. I assume that’s because the windows version is ancient. My desktop is >10 years old, but serves me well for my needs. My modern laptop is the source of my grief!!

AI Overview
To fix a missing Norton Wi-Fi icon in Windows 11, first check hidden icons by clicking the upward arrow in the taskbar and dragging the Norton icon back down. If missing entirely, open Norton, go to Security > LiveUpdate to ensure it’s running, or restart your PC to refresh the system tray.
