Norton Bootable Recovery Tool does not detect ethernet -- but lspci does

Hello,

I am aware that NBRT uses Linux as live CD OS. I have one infected PC and I am intended to do a full scan.

But the NBRT does not detect any internet connection available, the network applet shows 'No connection available' regardless output from

lspci | grep 'ethernet'

Which shows ethernet.

By the way I still can use the NBRT and do full scan even my virus definitions is on January 2017 but still not feeling comfortable because I cannot get the latest definition.

I need a solution about how to updating the virus definition manually (actually I am using live USB, not CD/DVD).

Thanks.

Hello sorry for the late reply.

Finally I decided to borrow a usb wifi so I forgot to try the lshw command :))

The USB wifi is working so I can get the latest defitions.

Did the command work?

I created the bootable USB via Rufus as told from https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/v72380755_EndUserProfile_en_us

I will try lshw command later.

Thanks.

Did you create a bootable USB with the NBRT from Norton Bootable Recovery Tool - Norton Security Scan - Symantec ?

lspci would only provide a list of PCI devices. What happens if you use "lshw -class network"
