Norton Check for Updates-FAILED

When I click on the Norton protection center and go to check for updates it fails.  I receive a red X next to check for updates. I've looked through the forum, for similar cases and found a link to get a product update however when i go to click the Continue button, nothiing happens and in the bottom of the screen it says javascript:document.f1.submit();.  I'm unable to move forward with the update.

Does anyone know what I can do?  I have 2011 Norton AntiVirus Classic Edition,  32 bit Operating system with Vista Home Premium.

Thanks,

there r a few steps you must follow carefully when you want to setup new antivirus...

4)reboot

5)make a disk defragment > reboot

6)install the norton is/av/360 till complete

7)run the program till complete...please choose trial mode if you do not ready with your activation code

8)reboot

9)check for update and install the update

10)reboot

if the problem can't be solved by the norton support, you can try to uninstall your norton product........

(take a note):please choose "please remove all user data including my stored password and quarantine file"!!!!!!!!! > reboot

you can either choose to defarg first your hard drive (C) > reboot

then download the newest version of is/av/360........

for IS the current version is 18.6.0.29

before that, you need to make CLEAN UNINSTALLATION by downloading the norton removal tool > reboot

Hi ShanaLCaruthers,

Is this a new issue or has it been happening for awhile?  Have you made any configuration changes to Internet Explorer?  You might try going into IE's Internet Options, and in the Security tab click "Reset all zones to default level."  Then open the Advanced tab and click "Restore advanced settings."  Click "OK."
