Norton Claims eBay Is A Fraudulent Website

Hello.  Whenever I do a search or view a product on eBay, I get the "Fraudulent Web Page Blocked" screen, claiming that "this web page is a known fraudulent web page.  It is recommended that you do NOT visit this page".  The homepage of eBay is not affected, only searches and items.  Does anyone know why a perfectly safe site that I visited just last night is suddenly prompting this reaction from Norton?

Thanks.

Welcome.

What version of NIS are you running? Support - About.

What operating system and service pack do you have?

Have you manually run LiveUpdate, rebooting as necessary, until no updates are available?

Is the search you mention the search provided by the eBay main page?

Does this message appear for all pages on eBay except the main page?

I just tried a couple of searches on eBay.com and did not get any warnings. Can you tell us what search phrase you used, so we can try it for you?

This is confirmed.  It must have been a recent update (today) as I buy and sell on ebay a great deal.  Ebay will need to be notified as well.  Home page appears just fine...leave it to look OR search at another category and Norton jumps on it.

I can confirm this too.  Just for anything for the ebay site (enter search item and click search) will trigger the warning.

Same problem here.

Norton version 19.7.1.5

Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit Service Pack 2

Ran Live Update until updates were complete

Searches take place from the eBay main page

It appears on all pages except the main page

Those of you having this problem....

Are you logged in to an account, or just visiting the page?

Are you on eBay .com or .ca or other?

I am not having this issue with my NIS 19.7.1.5

I am logged into my account on ebay.com, using IE, and the main page appears fine but trying to look up anything gives me the fraud page alert.

I just got off of the phone w/ebay customer service and they are starting to get a steady flow of calls pertaining to this situation.  My best guess is some sort of anomoly was issued in the latest automatic update that caused this.  Ebay indicated that they were "on it" and thanked for the input.

ebay.com

After logging into account, all is well until you leave the "homepage" and go to a (any) specific category.

I'd hat to be bidding on or buying something of value (boat, car, etc) and have this happen.

Hello Everyone!

I am having the exact same problem as well. It started around 11am (pacific time). Any advice is much appreciated.

Norton 360 version 6

I can replicate this on www.ebay.com.

On the site, enter a search term and click "search."  Wait for the page to fully load and Norton will kick in.

I'm having the same problem on ebay. Just started on one computer about an hour ago. My other computer is fine at the moment. HHMMM. We sell on ebay all the time. Never had this happen before..

I was just on ebay about 40 minutes ago and all was fine.  Then it looks like my nortons updated about 25 minutes ago and now every time i click on an ebay item it says it is a fraudulent website....

Those that are logged in to an eBay acccount, try logging out and see if you have the same issue.

I do not have an account so I cannot test to see if it is affected by being logged in.

I just checked my NIS and ran LiveUpdate, so I am up to date, and still cannot duplicate this.

I just logged out of ebay. Then searched, page still comes up. I also logged back in and still the same fraudulent page..

I am logged out.  I can easily replicate it time and time again.

  1. Go to www.ebay.com (NOT www.ebay.ca or www.ebay.co.uk).  Wait for page to load.
  2. Enter a search term
  3. Click search.
  4. Wait for page to load.
  5. Norton will kick in.

I have no problems... I'm from The Netherlands using NIS2012 19.7.1.5 NL

This started around noon today for me. I can go to the home page, but after that I get the fraudulent site warning whether I am signed in or not. I buy and sell on ebay so this is significant to me. I get the warning when I click on any item, even items in my watch list. I have Internet Security 2012, updated 6 hours ago. Pat
