Norton Clone caused system to not boot WinXp

I've read thru several postings that looked like they were solved, so I have the answer.

The only question I have is related to the use of BING. I saw a statement that read "Boot from the BING CD again and see if the Disk Signature is still zeroed. If it isn't just shutdown. If it is still zeroed we need to give it a fixed value. On the View MBR window click Edit Sig and enter this number   0xE1B72078    (you can enter any random hex number you like). OK. Apply. Make sure it has taken by opening View MBR again."

My problem was solved cause my drive was actually "C:". But what is in the wording above says you need to un-zero the Disk Signature. Why? What is that all about? Can someone please explain.

Thank You.
