This is about a website I've been using for a very long time which is now being blocked by Norton ConnectSafe - which I've also been using for a long time. This happened yesterday and the site is www.filehorse.com which I often use for downloading things.
Why, if I click 'I want to visit the site anyway', can't I so so? It seems from the report that the site is being blocked due to the possibility of downloading 1 PUA! I use a download manager for....downloads (unsurprisingly) and it's set to scan files with Norton on completion of downloads. When installing, I always use 'Custom Install' when available along with 'Unchecky', so I don't often get junk installed although nothing's 100% perfect!
Does Norton contact sites when they're blocked by ConnectSafe? Is my only alternative if I wish to continue to use FileHorse - and I do - to stop using ConnectSafe? I'll try to add a couple of screen shots so that you know what I'm seeing.
I am having the same problem but with deviantart. I also have used deviantart for several years and from what I've read, deviantart is completely safe. Could you please help me?
Having checked on all 3 of our PCs, I'm pleased to say that the problem appears to have been resolved and I'm happy to be using Norton ConnectSafe again. Thanks again for getting this sorted out.
Thank you very much Katie. I haven't got time to check it out right now by changing back to Norton ConnectSafe as it's past my bedtime - 2.02am here! I'll do it tomorrow and post back to let you know how I get on, I'll be really pleased to have Norton ConnectSafe back again!
Following my previous post, I'm sorry to say that Norton ConnectSafe has resumed blocking FileHorse for no good reason that I can see. Therefore I have decided to stop using NCS for now until Norton gets its act together and resolves the problem. If every download site which has something unwanted in the files it has available for download was classified as 'malicious', there wouldn't be many such sites left to download anything from. A notorious site in this respect is Download.com - I noticed that NCS didn't block that one as 'malicious'. I will continue to use NIS of course, but will rely on my own common sense and the experience of others when visiting sites both familiar and unfamiliar.
My apologies for not replying before now. We had a bit of a crisis in our neighbourhood yesterday and I simply didn't get round to coming here. Anyway, the good news is that the trouble with Norton ConnectSafe/FileHorse has been resolved and I can now get back on the FileHorse site! I'd mentioned this problem on another site I visit often and sometimes someone from Norton Support turns up there, so maybe he saw it. I just don't know what happened, but it all seems to be fine now. Many thanks for your replies to my question, I really appreciate the trouble you went to so that you could try to help me. I'm glad too that I won't have to consider getting rid of Norton ConnectSafe.

By the way, I like your avatar, it's the same as the picture on a CD album I've got - "Pavarotti - The 50 Greatest Tracks"!
Thanks for your reply. As I said in my post above, I have already tried clicking 'I want to visit the site anyway', but it simply reloads the page shown in my first screen shot. I don't want to download the file with the PUA, but I do want to be able to go to the FileHorse site for other downloads when I need them. I find it ludicrous that the whole site is blocked because of one PUA which most people won't get anyway! I think I'll be getting rid of ConnectSafe rather than remain unable to use what is actually a very good site.
have you tried > 'I want to visit the site anyway'. Presume you run Norton resident security. If you want to go against Norton. Try Off Download Insight and or exclude PUA.Downloader Signature. Or, maybe set Norton > Low Risks to Ignore | Ask Me. Threat type: Security Risk. Programs that pose a security or privacy risk and are not already classified as malicious.
