Norton Control Panel/Welcome Screen intermittently opens by itself after 26.8.11125 (build 26.8.11125.0)

Issue abstract: After LiveUpdate install of Norton 360 26.8.11125 (build 26.8.11125.0), the Control Panel opens by itself

Detailed description: After LiveUpdate install of Norton 360 26.8.11125 (build 26.8.11125.0), the Control Panel intermittently opens by itself for no apparent reason. Usually if there is an alert, the system bar icon will show a blue dot. The control panel is opening with no alerts, it just pops up. In Settings/Notifications, I have “Non-critical app alerts” and “Promotional Notifications” turned off. I have “Automatic Scans” set to once a week. “Automatic Live Update” is turned off though I check every day on MY schedule, not Nortons.

This issue is occurring on both Windows PCs in my subscription. It is a change or bug that is causing our autistic daughter anxiety because when the Control Panel pops up by itself, it interrupts her focus on her computer, which in turn causes anxiety for us.

Product & version number: Norton 360 26.8.11125 (build 26.8.11125.0)

OS details:Windows 11 Pro, 25H2, OS Build 26200.9168

fwiw ~ my understanding:
Norton released a backend fix for the Automatic UI Opening issue. Please run LiveUpdate and Restart the system to get the fix applied.

Thanks for the heads up!

I noticed yesterday that the Control Panel had not popped up by 08:30 am local time, though it was a busy morning on my desktop and I thought I might have just inadvertently dismissed it.

I can verify that it did not pop up today either. I’ll have to ask our daughter if she sees the change as well. I can’t say that she saw it at the same time because she is not typically on her computer before 10:00 am (house rule).

It certainly would have been nice to officially hear that a bug had been found and remediated.

Several days now without the pop-up, so whatever was fix that was slipped in seems to have done the job.
