Even since doing the upgrade from Win 7 to Win 10 Norton Security has been causing me problems. After getting past issues before upgrading NS to the Win 10 compatible version I thought I was fine, but it was wishful thinking.
If I leave Norton alone to run in the background everything is just fine. If I try to open Norton my screen goes blank, flickers with the box I assume Norton will appear in, then goes blank again. Sometimes this happens several times before I get a blank screen and the computer is frozen. Once in a while it will return with Norton actually open. If so and I click on "settings," all is lost - blank screen and unresponsive computer.
I've used Norton Power Eraser and the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool several times. Today I added Malwarebytes and ran that. It found a few unnecessary programs and I allowed it to quarantine them. Then I ran Norton Power Eraser and it identified four files, two of which were recognized and necessary, two of which I allowed to be removed. Then I did the Remove and Reinstall Tool. Decided to try running the "Tour" after it was done, and immediately I got a black screen, a few flashes, and Norton showing with wording from the tour over it - and a frozen computer.
I'm about ready to abandon NS entirely.
I have checked to insure my drivers are up to date.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Alan
