I'm running an HP dv6 laptop with windows 7 professional 64bit. I have had Norton on this machine for going on two years without any problems. However, I just updated to the newest version of Norton and it crashes (blue screen) consistently any time I do anyting with Norton (live update, change settings, etc). If I leave Norton alone and work with other programs, it will crash at randome times.
Hi @mdeal70 ,
Sorry for the inconvenience caused.
I would like to know more information from you.
- Could you please tell me full version of Norton? (like 21.1.0.18)
- How did you upgrade to the latest version of Norton? Is it by running Live Update?
Also are you able to get Full Memory Dumps? I've sent you a private message as well, with upload instructions. Please let me know if this is possible. Thanks.
Norton prompted me to download the newest version. Shortly thereafter, it crashed & windows had to do a system restore to start again. I tried loading directly from the website several times, each with the same result. I have not been able to see the version number because it will crashes before I have the opportunity to check. So, whatever the current version is from the Norton website, that would be the one I'm downloading. As for the blue screen, how does one find the log to send in?
Thanks!

Hello,
Do you have any Microsoft real-time scanner like Windows Defender or similar that conflicts with NIS and prevents it to function properly??
Also, if you/or the system do a lot of system restore actions you will finish with a destroyed OS and maybe a new installation will be required, BUT all this after you problem with N360 is resolved.
Hope this helps,
Funny, if this is related to the newest version of N360 being automatically downloaded, I just recently turned that feature off under "Administrative Settings", lol. 4G LTE.
Hi mdeal70
To find the log(s) to send in, check Mohan_G post number 3 of this thread and click on, Full Memory Dumps, its in orange.

@mdeal70 - something that we've seen is that customers who have installed KB2670838 have experienced blue screens. As the linked KB article indicates, you may wish to try uninstalling the update and see if the blue screens persist.
Hi,
Just a little note to add that if you uninstall KB 2670838 be sure to uninstall first IE 10 and reboot because this update is absolutely necessary in order for IE 10 to run, (prerequisite).
Then you can revert to IE 9 and after uninstall KB 2670838.
Also, if you proceed, Open IE, Manage-Add-Ons, and check if Norton Vulnerability Protection is still listed there. (there are small chances it's gone).
If not listed, a new NIS reinstallation is required.
If after reinstallation OF NIS, Vulnerability Protection is not listed again, I will provide additional steps to get this solved for good.
Regards,
