Norton customer service a rouse and an abomination

I downloaded a virus accidentally then purchased Norton anti-virus to remove it. It did not, but a technician informed me the virus had already entered and it was too late.

I assume that's correct so can't comment on the antivirus product. I can warn you, however, about the horrid horrid virus removal service and shenanigans going on with Norton's customer service.

After being pushed to do so, I ordered their $99.99 virus removal service. I spoke with the initial technician who said they'd contact me the next day at 9:30 a.m. to help me remove it. I got a call at 12:30 p.m. by another technician. I wasn't available. I called at 1:30 p.m. to arrange the technical help. I was shuffled from one online technician to another - all employees of third party computer company in India - for no apparent reason for 3 hours - with significant delays between each and no reason for the transfers.

At wit's end, I ended up telling the last online technician I couldn't wait any longer and wanted a refund.

THAT'S WHEN THE REAL WASTE OF TIME BEGAN.

I contacted customer service to request a refund for the failed technical service. I was informed to go online. I went online, told to wait 16 minutes, then literally transferred from one customer service agent to another, each asking irrelevant questions and trying to get me a technician to do the work.

In frustration, I called technical support again. One kind Indian (they are all in India) said they'd try to help me get a refund. They took over my computer remotely and chatted very aggressively with customer support. Each customer support person asked many questions about my computer, etc. all in an attempt to sell me more product or refuse the refund. The support person admitted how frustrated THEY were and openly admitted each customer service agent was trying to sell me something and avoiding my refund request. Frustrated with the process, THEY wished me luck and told me to call another customer service line and apologized on behalf of Norton. They recommended I attempt a charge back with my bank which I will do.

I am currently waiting again for customer service. It has been another 2 hours. My day is TOTALLY wasted.

I'm sure I'll get replies to try the chat.  As above stated, I tried the chat.  It's a pointless exercise.
