Whenever I download any game mod for crysis, gta norton keeps deleting it calling it WS.Reputation1.As a result I have to keep turning off download insight to download my favourite mod.For instance, just try download this mod
The file was deleted by Download Insight apparently because it has a rating of "Bad" by Norton Insight. (your can verify the details of this by looking in your Norton History file under security risks) This means that a number of users who have downloaded this file in the past were not happy with the file for one reason or another.
The fact that the file has a bad rating doesn't necessarily mean that it is a malicious file. It might just be a very poorly programmed, unstable application that is likely to crash at any moment, delete your data or perhaps damage some of your Windows files --not intentionally, but because of bad programming. The downloaded file was deleted by Norton to protect you from whatever misfortunes previous users had experienced with this file.
If you go ahead and download this file and use it, then you do so at your own risk. Others who have used it in the past have not liked what they saw.
thanks for the reply. It would have been great though if Norton maintained a backup of every file it deleted or it asked me first before deleting. From my observations,it seeems that Norton only keeps a backup when it deletes a file using Auto Protect and SONAR.When Download insight deletes a file it doesnt maintain a backup.Pllease fix this as its annoying when I download a 4gb file only to find that norton's Insight deleted it
It may not be the mod itself that is the problem here. It might be the location from where you download the mod. Are you downloading these mods from a reputable site?
.... It would have been great though if Norton maintained a backup of every file it deleted ...
Hi adityas123,
Did you check to see if the downloaded file had been saved in Quarantine?
Click on Quarantine in the Computer Protection section, then see if your file is listed there. If so select that item, and then click on the Options link the right of the screen. This will bring up a screen with options for the quarantined file.
One of the options might be to Restore the file. If this option is available to you, then you might try it to see if it will let you restore the file.
