Norton Desktop and Taskbar icon vanishes

I have found that from time to time the Norton Internet Security desktop and taskbar icons vanish and are replaced by the Windows icon for a missing item.

Why does this happen and what is the easy way to fix it and/or keep it from happening?

I have an active subscription and suspect that it might be taking place from  a Liveupdate function but not sure and the only resolution is to uninstall and reinstall the application which seems to be very unnecessary,

If you make any software changes to the computer prior to the issue then try to boot the computer in safe mode and check whether issue is resolved or not. If not, clean boot.

Do you restart your computer every so often? Programs, and Windows itself need a full system restart to ensure any pending updates get processed completely.
