Detailed description: Norton said that it prevented connection to a website, but it can be seen from the screenshot that the website was loaded by the browser.
Product & version number: Norton 360 for Windows, version. 25.7.10308 (build 25.7.10308.945)
OS details: Windows 11 fully up to date
What is the error message you are seeing? We prevented connection to (website-name) because it is a dangerous webpage. Threat category: URL:Blacklist.
If you have any supporting screenshots, please add them:
@lironl Please review the screenshot you provided again. Norton prevented the connection to the blacklisted site as it should have to prevent it loading into your browser. The scan it recommended states: “Scan for other issues too”. Norton protected you as it is advertised to do.
The screenshot shows airrater.org and content from that website in the browser, i.e. the connection wasn’t completely prevented.
It’s possible that previously, Norton Safe Web stopped such web pages from loading at all, but I can’t remember. I have other non-Norton filters that do just that - stop certain problematic web pages from loading at all.
I went to that site and saw the same warning message and the fact that the site did load.
Looking at the Norton Security History for this detection it appears that Safe Web is blocking a script from running on that page. Subsequent loading of the page did not present the warning. I’m suppose that the Safe Web remembers the original block of the script.
This what I got my side: Websites have to “load” into a browser before anything can be detected. I was attempting to make the point that the “connection” to the website was blocked and the web browser disconnected. I get these from time to time even visiting sites I use every day, there’s nothing there to be concerned about going forward was what the point being made was.
