Norton Disk doctor gui has stopped working

Most other options of Norton utilities 15 work on my alienware r4.

However the repair disks under maintence causes the gui to crash every time.

I have a raid zero 2 tb disk system composed of 2  1tb disks.

Does anyone know anything that might help me.

Or point me where i can solve this.

Norton customer support was not helpful.

They would not call when i could be available.

they would call during the day when i was at work.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I also have that problem.  I have a brand new toshiba laptop and I'm running windows 8.  Tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that didn't help.  It is the only issue that I'm having with norton utilitlies

Yep, I'll second that. I have a week old Asus laptop with the "Norton Disk doctor gui has stopped working" message. Last night I went  through the online Norton tech support where a tech took control of my computer but he was unable to fix the problem. [Removed] . He uninstalled, reinstalled and updated all which I had already tried. The tech told me he would kick the case to his supervisor who would call me, but nothing yet.

I've used Norton Utilities since Windows 98. I'm real familiar with this. I have NU15 and NIS 2013 running perfectly on an old Windows XP rig I built. Of course that is WinXP 32 bit and the Asus is Win7 Home Pro 64 bit also with NIS 2013.

I'm going to contact the Asus techs and forums next.

If no luck there, then I'm going to set my wayback machine for some of the personal notes I've made over the years:

(1)Go to MSCONFIG and block all Asus apps from running. See if any effect. (2) Uninstall NU15 and NIS 2013,- reinstall after using the Norton Removal Tool with NU15 first, not second. This actually was recommended by a Norton phone tech once and it worked.

Good luck everyone.

A solution has been found, at least for my laptop.

I spent many hours uninstalling and reinstalling NIS 2013 and NU15. I even purged all the McAfee preinstalled software by using Add/Remove Programs plus the MCPR removal tool. That McAfee didn't want to leave. I also used Add/Remove programs to uninstall all Norton followed by the NRT Norton removal tool. After many reinstalls, the NIS 2013 always worked but the NU15 never worked. I still had the "Norton Disk doctor gui has stopped working" message.

Norton phone support called, and after missing, their call I phoned back. The Norton phone tech was really excellent. She remotely accessed my computer and was also unable to make NU15 fully function. So she installed NU16. This works like a charm.

I should say that NU16 differs in appearance from NU15 greatly. It has the appearance of a prerelease, but it has worked perfectly so far and provides the functionality I need. It is updateable, so its looks may evolve. Be sure to remove NU15 before installing NU16. Your mileage may differ. Thank you very much Mary, the Norton tech.

Helly Charity6201,

Are you using Norton Utilties 15 on Windows 8? Unfortunately the only supported  and compatible version for Win 8 is NU16. The latest version doesn't have this issue anymore.

****I Believe if you contact support regarding this issue they would have something special for you ;)

Skreddy
