I purchased a new Dell desktop PC with Windows 8. Thoroughly uninstalled McAfee and installed Norton Internet Security and Utilities 15. As others on the Forum experienced, I get the error message: Norton Disk Doctor GUI Module has stopped working. The Forum experts were able to determine that Utilities 15 will not work properly with Windows 8, and suggested contacting Norton Support for an upgrade from Utilities 15 to 16.
Several months ago, I bought the 3-PC License for Norton Internet Security and Utilities. This is the first Windows 8 PC installation for me. So I contacted the Norton Chat Support, and initially they said they would not provide a free upgrade for my fully licensed Utilities 15 to the Windows 8 compatible Norton Utilities 16 version. After directing them to this Community Forum website, they finally agreed to authorize a free upgrade but that I would have to fax or email a copy of my original sales receipt. Don't know where that is anymore, so I offered to give them the Product Key Number. Also told them they could see my Norton Account and the fact that I have a history of fully licensed Symantec Products. They still insisted that I provide the original sales receipt from Fry's Electronics in Fountain Valley, CA. I told them that I would be posting a negative comment regarding the Norton Chat lack of support, since I did not receive the free upgrade as others on this Forum have. Makes me want to consider switching all my systems over to ESET NOD32.
Hope no one else experiences this poor support from the Norton Chat.
