Norton DNS ConnectSafe Servers Worldwide

Hi, I am wishing to setup Norton DNS / Connect Safe.

 

I notice the documentation says there is a global list of servers, but all the documentation tells us to configure using the USA DNS servers.

 

  • Preferred DNS: 198.153.192.40
  • Alternate DNS: 198.153.194.40

If you do a lookup on MaxMind.com you can clearly see that the recommended servers are based in California:

 

198.153.192.40USCupertino, California, United States, North America
198.153.194.40USCupertino, California, United States, North America

 

I am actually based in Australia, so this is not very useful for me and the response times are much slower than my normal DNS.

 

The Norton DNS Faq page says that you have servers everywhere, so my question is, what are the addresses of these other worldwide servers below, so that I can connect to them. Specifically for me, the Sydney datacenter.

Where are Norton ConnectSafe servers located?

We are continually working on adding more servers to the global Norton ConnectSafe network. At the moment, Norton ConnectSafe servers are hosted at 17 data centers across the world.

 

Below is the list of Norton ConnectSafe data centers:
North America: Ashburn (VA), Chicago (IL), Dallas (TX), Los Angeles (CA), Miami (FL), New York (2 locations), Newark (NJ), and Seattle (WA).
Europe: Amsterdam (2 locations), Frankfurt (DE), and London (UK).
Asia: Hong Kong, Singapore, Sydney, and Tokyo.

I'm in Oz too!

 

Up until very recently I was faithfully using Norton ConnectSafe... Until I ran GRC's Nameserver Performance Benchmark and found it much slower than my ISP assigned DNS.  I can notice the speed difference.

Is it slow when you visit all websites, not just MaxMind.com, right?

When I ran the GRE DNS bench tool, it also stated that  Symantec's     Preferred DNS: 198.153.192.40 and  Alternate DNS: 198.153.194.40 server's were bad and slow.

Do you experience slow internet when you visit all websites or just particular websites?

yup, and other things. the DNSBench is only 1 tool I have used it on...DNS is a major key yo security

Hi Katie, I know how much DNS relates to security , that is why I would like to see more converversation's about this.
