May I use Norton DNS with NIS11...does Norton DNS offer any benefit to NIS11 & Safe Web users.
This post here suggests Norton DNS is not intended as an adjunct for NIS users.
DNS queries routed through Norton DNS are checked with the Norton Safe Web database to ensure that they do not
point to malicious websites. Symantec thus seeks to block malware and phishing attempts.[2] Norton DNS will also intercept misspelled domain names and offer suggestions or display advertising.[1]
Yes i also use NİS 2011,and have come to the conclusion that with NİS 2011, N.DNS may well NOT be needed.Overkill maybe?
Would be interested in a Symantec pro's opinion regarding this matter.
Thanks.
Hi mysoul
I tried N DNS via adding DNS addresses to IPv4 on my PC. Results were quirky. Norton Community opens in lo-fi as one example. Norton Safe Search would not search or required multiple attempts. Other sites also presented w quirks. So, I went back to Auto. I may try N DNS on my router. Maybe the combo of NIS Safe Web and N DNS and perhaps FF passive anti phishing / anti malware is just too much.
thanks for the reply and the welcome.İt's appreciated.
Yes as you point out it seeems to be a case of 'just too much'
İ've decided to NOT install the N.DNS and wait instead for further developments on this matter.
As it happens i also use WOT (Web of Trust) and pre check every link with Dr Web Link Checker, which add an extra layer of security,so i'm happy to leave things as they are,for now.

Umm, too much or something else....IDK
so I'm happy to leave things as they are, for now
If it ain't broke why fix it ;-)
Thnx for pointing me to Dr Web Link Checker. I've been playing with it. The UI is cool, albeit a little heavy on advertising Dr Web. Then there's always the Privacy issue. Dr Web 'Close Window' doesn't work for me ?. Also a long time devotee of WOT.
