Norton doesn't detect threats!

I keep getting a message via MS Security that I have a Trojan on my laptop, first it was in the Bing photos app, so I removed that and did a restart but now the same one Trojan:Win32/Wacatac.B!ml is apparently in Amazon drive. I regularly do Norton scans but Norton isn't showing any threats, so what is this thing and how do I get rid of it?

You're welcome. Thanks for the post back as well.

I downloaded RKill but before I could use it my laptop froze and in the end had to force a restart and when I restarted the Trojan had disappeared. I then tried to run MS Safety Scanner but couldn't actually find it, so at the moment I'm running a full MS system scan and hoping that the problem is solved. Thanks for checking back.

Ahhh thanks for the verification. Any results from Rkill and scanning with the MS Safety Scanner?

Hi SoulAsylum - I'm running Windows 10 and allow security updates, etc. as and when they appear

Hello. I would first download Rkill to your desktop and run it. If malicious processes are running Rkill will detect and stop those processes. That will allow you to run a security scan in hopes of removal. My advice is to run Microsoft Safety Scanner next.

If things do not progress in a positive manner. Please use this Malwarebytes article to fix your issue. Click the solution button and review. You may need to start your own thread there and ask for assistance. They are highly recommended and professional.

Edited: Have you installed the September Microsoft updates that fix 2 known zero-day issues and 60 others? My reading suggest Windows 8 did not receive the update, Windows 8.1 did. Can you verify?
