Norton email saying I renewed

Note: Please do not post Personally Identifiable Information like email address, personal phone number, physical home address, product key etc.

Issue abstract:

Detailed description:Today I received an email from Norton thanking me for renewing my product when I haven’t. Then I open Norton on my computer and it says I have so many days left before it expires. What is going on?

Product & version number:360 Deluxe

OS details:WIN10

What is the error message you are seeing?

If you have any supporting screenshots, please add them:

@dresdenron Norton has the policy of charging for renewal when automatic renewal is set within your Norton account. There SHOULD be an e-mail stating renewal took place, with renewal somewhere within the last 30-45 days of your current subscription. This is to ensure your protection doesn’t overlap and leave you vulnerable. I hope this helps answering your concerns.

If you did receive an e-mail and suspect it not to be legit you can always validate the message legitimacy at the following Norton site:

SoulAsylum,

Yes I know the policy and have been with Norton for a few decades. I always go in and cancel the auto renewal. But last year Norton Support took over my computer to supposedly fix a problem and must have reactivated the auto renewal. I received an email from Norton a month ago saying I was being billed. So I cancelled the auto renewal and they gave me a refund. Now almost a month later I received the Norton email saying my product is ready to go because I had auto renewed. At least when I sign into Norton my account tells me the correct information that it expires in a couple of weeks (I have already went to the store and bought the physical copy as I always do to install). Not a good look for a security software company but a couple years ago a few hundred users wrote in about another Norton email glitch, so it doesn't surprise me.

Did you check the link in SoulAsylum’s post to check if the email is a legitimate email? There are many scams that say you paid what is usually a large amount of money and they want you to contact them so they can refund your payment. In fact what they will be doing is taking the payment information you give them and will withdraw as much of your money as they can.

I’ve edited your image to remove your email address.

That does look like a legit Norton email.

When you arranged the refund, have you received it? Did you check after that to see that Auto Renewal was off again? Usually within 45 - 60 days to subscription expiry you cannot disable auto renewal yourself. You need to have Support do that.

Have you checked with your bank to see if a payment has been taken?

PeterWeb,

thanks for the edit. The updated web site isn’t as user friendly as it once was. My credit Card payment they used on the auto renewal was debited and credited the same day, May 19th. As far as disabling auto renewal, I would assume the representative was supposed to do that when I ask for the refund and got it. I will check it myself when I get off here.

Thanks again,

dresdenron

Also check with your credit card company to see if a new payment has been taken. If it has you will have to go through the refund process again.
