Hi Kain
Welcome to the community.
Let's start with first things first.
Please send all the files you can find to Symantec Malware Submission
They can than write a signature for it. After that you can update and you'll be fine.
If that didn't do the trick please post it here and we'll help you further.
Please keep inmind that There is no security vendor out there that can find everything.
Okay, got malwarebytes' anti-malware. It keeps finding 47 registry keys that it removes, but they always come back. I have the most updated version [1081] and the CSRLT.exe still plagues me. I'm sending the file to symantic right now through the link given. How long should I have to wait? This is the household computer, y'know?
Found something else I neglected to mention. FP_AX_ CAB_INSTALLER.exe seems to jump into the mix. Multiple processes of it run at the same time. They stop appearing once I end CSRLT.
Glad you sent the file off to Symantec for analysis, they should reply to you within 48 hours from my experience.
Keep in mind, once you have been infected manual removal may be the only option..did you happen to check out the removal instructions I referred you to by way of a link?
Yes, I'm doing it right now.
Anything look suspicious that I may have missed?

Not that I can see but I'm no HiJack specialist.
Did you shut down system restore? That often a way to really get rid of the malware
Nothing in this list looks suspicious at first glance. This appears to be half of a hijackthis log. Do you have the other half of the result, it will have numbers down the left hand side before each entry?
Yeah, I just didn't know if it was too long to post here. Don't wanna get in trouble with the only people able to help me.

Note= This is after I cleaned and disabled restore.
Also, Malwarebytes keeps finding the same 37 files. I did a full scan and it found 39, two of them in the restore. I disabled restore.
Hello all. Two-year subscriber, and have been slowly losing my patience every day.
Running Windows XP SP3, should be all you need to know. An ignorant idiot decided to download a variation of HOTBAR. Woo-hoo. I've been fighting this accursed malware for over 6 hours now, and I'm getting more and more fed up with Norton's inability to put the kibosh on this once and for all. I've been in regedit searching for every single strain of data and variant of the hotbar and removing them. The main file I notice that spearheads all the popups of Internet Explorer and a little icon on my taskbar telling me to download the 'fix' for it. It's called CSRLT.exe. This is getting aggravating, annoying, and redundant. I try to stop it from autorunning, I delete every strain of it from my computer, even the registry, and it still comes back each and every time. I am willing to provide more information only if I am going to seriously be helped.
~Nik
Oh, and here's the 37 registry keys which won't leave. I saved a logfile this time only, removing them does nothing. When I go in in regedit, it says there's an error.

Thanks for these logs. It's 1am here right now, allow me to tackle this again in my breaks tomorrow.
PS The CSRLT.exe file you referred to seems to have gone, is this correct? Thanks
CSRLT.exe keeps respawning.
Can you tell me the location/s, thanks. We can run a tool to get rid of this. I must log off now.
It’s in the system 32 folder and runonce.
IIf you continue to have problems I suggest you download Autoruns and Procexp from Microsoft. Just google these and locate at Microsoft. Auoruns is easier to use and understand than Hijack and it is non destructive. If you need further help, just ask.
Okay, got both and cleaned house of any and everything suspicious [made backups in a quarintined place, of course]. I've got a pounding migrane, so i'm going back to bed. Thanks for all your help, i'll re-post if it's not solved, or i will click solved if it is and give proper kudos to you all.

Well, it doesn’t start up anymore, but I still can’t get rid of those stubborn 37 registry entries. I also noticed that when I do a disk cleanup it always has 18,XXX of compressed old files. Any ideas, gentlemen. The registry entries take priority over the compressed files, naturally.
Sorry to jump in here, but I didn’t see a link referring to the HOTBAR Removal page, and wanted to be sure you had this info.

Well done Tony, I actually did a search for 'hotkey' (derr..) and 'CSRLT.exe' in Symantec virus removal search and came up with a blank.
However, the HOTBAR Removal page makes no reference to HKLM\..\Run: [CSRLT.EXE] C:\WINDOWS\system32\CSRLT.EXE, which has apparently infected Nick's PC, so I was thinking he may have a different variant.
Just waiting to see if he gets back to say it has completely gone before offering another removal tool for this particular variant.
Nick, you will still need to run the removal tool to totally get rid of this, I had another one but the one suggested by Tony_Weiss may do the trick, if not we can run the other. After you run it restart, then do another full scan with Malwarebytes. Of course, it would also be a good idea to run Live Update and do a full scan with N360 as well...
Did you try removing those registry entries in Safe Mode? It would also be a good idea to run CCleaner for both file and registry cleanup.
