Hey,
I'm currently involved in a bulk setup job wherein I need to configure Norton Family and 360 on some 200 laptops for a local council. The 360s are a non issue, but configuring the NF is proving a monumental hassle; I have to log in to the system twice on each machine (once to install it, once to configure), and when I do that I get through about three machines before hitting the dreaded "The Norton Family Server is temporarily unavailable". They're all being set up to use a single admin account for the NF (the council's admin guy), with ten machines being assigned to each of 20 child accounts that have been preconfigured.
The issue is obvious, confirmed by attempting to log in through the website; Norton's servers are seeing it as the same account logging in about seven times in three minutes from four different machines and reading it as either a DOS attack or an attempt to jack the account. The website reports it as "Maximum login attempts exceeded; please try again in one hour".
As I said, I've got 200-odd of these machines to work through; having to stop for an hour after every three is obviously completely impractical. Is there a recommended minimum wait between login attempts that won't time out the server, or some alternative approach that will enable me to get these machines sorted out in something resembling a reasonable time frame?
