Norton Family not able to block Netflix app on Android

Issue abstract: I cannot select to block or unblock the Netflix app on android.

Detailed description: I have Norton family running and monitoring usage. I see a device that is using the Netflix app, but i want to block it. I go into house rules, and it’s not showing the app, at all. I know it’s installed, and i know the program sees it enough to track the time, but i cannot block it. When i look at recent activity and select it there, i can “unblock it” and the “block it” that way. Once i do that, it appears in the application list for a short bit, but soon enough it’s gone again. Even though it’s supposedly blocked, it’s not at all, and i can’t even validate the status since the house rules doesn’t list it.

Oh, but the other phone we monitor, also android, shows the app properly.

Thanks for reaching to Norton Family forum. Regarding the app listing, the issue that you have pointed out should not happen under normal scenarios. We suspect the issue could be related to the device manufacturer where the Netflix comes pre-installed. We need few more device details to troubleshoot further and have sent you a private message for the same.

After you block the Netflix app from activity, you can view the apps that are blocked as per house rules from the child’s device by following below steps.

  • Tap on app Child avatar
  • Tap on House rules
  • Tap on Apps section to see the list of blocked apps
