I have three probably interrelated problems with my Norton anti-virus software. I have a fully paid up subscription for the software but don’t have (never have had) the install disks for it.
The Norton software has filled up my Windows Vista laptop’s C drive with 24.4 GB (26,217,841,763 bytes) in the C:\ProgramData\Symantec\Definitions\VirusDefs folder. There is now very little space left on this 55.6 Gb drive. By the time I realised what was going on and where the space was going to the second problem occurred.
When I log on it has started coming up with “Auto-Protect experienced an unexpected error, 0x000003E8” with an addition number “3035,6” in the bottom left hand side of this pop up. This happens when I swap to a different userid as well as when I logon after switching it on.
Thirdly when I run a Full Scan when not logged on as an Administrator it now errors and terminates part way through with this error “Norton Internet Security has encountered an internal program error.” with “3038,107” in the bottom left hand corner. This started happening the same time as the second problem started so I assume the two are related.
What is going on here? Why has it happened? And how can I fix it?
