Norton firewall

I am having trouble connecting my Dell M6300 to a HP bluetooth printer. I have checked the BIOs and wireless and bluetooth are enabled, the drivers are up to date, the bluetooth devices are working correctly so now I am pulling mhair out! The bluetooth light is not on but wireless works fine.

Is it possible that the Norton firewall is blocking bluetooth connections. Is there settings I can check?

Thank you in anticipation

John

In general, if you are using the blue tooth connectivity to connect to internet only then Norton Firewall will pitch in, otherwise firewall will not block normal bluetooth connections.

A simple check is,

1. Turn OFF firewall for some time (Make sure you are not connected to internet when your Norton Firewall is turned off)

2. Check if the bluetooth light works

3. Turn ON the firewall back

4. And check for your bluetooth light

If YES for step 2 and NO for step 4, only then Norton Firewall is the reason for blocking.

If the answer is NO for both step 2 & 4 then firewall is the reason.

Please post your findings so that we can try to narrow down your problem.
