Hello,
Yesterday I discovered a Trojan.Agent within my Norton registery files using the filename Svchost.exe *32. This malware was pulling up to one gigabyte of RAM at times and caused Norton to close immedately upon opening. This behavior worried me and my first action was to uninstall Norton, redownload it and reinstall it. However, this did not correct the problem. I discovered the Trojan after a Full System Scan using Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware discovered, but could not remove it.
A friend of mine who is more well versed in dealing with this kind of situation helped me out and managed to remove the Trojan and clean up the registry and computer overall using the following programs:
Malewarebyte's Anti-Malware
Malewarebyte's Anti-Rootkit
Combofix
TCF
TDSSKiller
F-Secure Online Scanner
AdwCleaner
Security Check
After removal he uninstalled and otherwise removed all of these programs except for Malewarebyte's Anti-Maleware, I am not sure what happened to the logs.
This solution worked well and I, again, redownloaded and reinstalled Norton Security Suite. However, I have now recently discovered that Norton will freeze up and crash should I attempt a Live Update or Full System Scan. After these crashes Norton will not open again until I restart the machine, but does seem to continue running in the background.
If anyone could help correct this I would be very grateful.
