Norton Full System Scan not completing. Why?

3 times over the past few days I have attempted running a full system scan and neither time it completes. The first time my laptop froze so I had to shut it off and the second I got a blue screen message and my laptop shut down and upon starting up again it said “one of your disks needs to be checked for consistency”. The check ran and my laptop started normally. Today, I tried a third time to run a full system scan when I went out, so I wasn’t doing anything else on the laptop, I just left the scan running. I came home to my laptop restarted, so obviously the scan didn’t complete for a third time. Why is this happening? Someone advised me to run Malwarebytes and I did, that scan completed and came up with Trojan.Hiloti which I deleted, ran the program again, then came up with nothing on my laptop…so why isn’t this scan completing? It is also annoying because I have to wait hours for the scan to complete and it still doesn’t.
