I recently purchased a new pc with windows 7 operating system. I've attempted to reinstall Norton Ghost 10.0 however I continually get the incompatible error message. I need to find a way to retrieve my data files from an external hard drive that were originally backed up using Ghost 10.0.
Suggestions on how I might accomplish this?
You do not need to install Ghost to recover files. You can use Recover Point Browser to retrieve your files from the image. You can run it straight from the Ghost disc by navigating to .\I386\SHELL\V2I\V2IBROWSER.EXE. Or you can download it from HERE.
Error occurs when I attempt your suggestion. Error EC8B0001 The Symantec storage engine have not been initialized.
Right click it and try to run in compatibility mode for XP. If that doesn't work, download the one I linked to. It is a newer version.

I'm glad it worked out for you. If you liked Ghost 10 with Windows XP, I think you wil like Ghost 15 even more in Windows 7.
