I am currently using Windows XP SP3 and Ghost 12.0.
In Ghost 12.0 the image history file is located by default on Drive C:
This is a problem because when you recover Drive C you will a least lose one of history files not the actual partition image file (.v2i).
The Norton Ghost image history file should be located in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Norton Ghost.
There are four folders there
CommandFiles
History
Logs
Schedule
Open regedit and find
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Norton Ghost
The Path should be found at the DataDir registry key.
To change the path of the Norton Ghost image history file
Click on Start
Select Run
Type in msconfig
Select Services
Click on hide all Microsoft services
Click on Disable all (Services)
Select Startup
Click on Disable all (Startup)
Reboot the computer
Open C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec
Cut the Norton Ghost folder and paste it to the Backup Destination Drive (ie D:)
Open regedit and find
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\Norton Ghost
Double click DataDir and set the path to D:\Norton Ghost\
To Restore All the services and Startup Programs
Click on Start
Select Run
Type in msconfig
Select General
SelectNormalStartup
Reboot the computer
The path should have been successful changed.
Please Note that if you are using a USB drive for your Backup Destination Drive make sure it is always on before you boot computer. Since Norton Ghost will be looking for the image history information there.

red,
Add me to the list of those who support that idea
I have had a number of occasions when I had to do a restore or use the removal tool and found loose ends all over the place.
Hi: Redk9258
Yes moving the image history file should be an option in ghost.
As for your question about daily backups and you restore an image from 7 days earlier.
So long as the registry key DataDir is set to D:\Norton Ghost\
Everything works fine
