Try the following steps:
- Restart the computer
- When the Ghost configuration wizard opens up, cancel out of this
- Open Ghost through the Start menu
- Set up your initial backup set
This should allow you to work around the configuration wizard that is launching. I'm assuming that is the problem you are referring to based on the error code you provided. Keep in mind that with Ghost there can be 2 or more error codes and that can lead to very different use case scenarios and work arounds.
The error appears before the wizard starts. We are unable to setup the intial backup set.
Are you able to close the error? When you try to launch Ghost does the wizard still attempt to launch? Are you able to open the main Ghost UI at all? If you can open the main Ghost UI, try to set up your backup from there.
No not at all. Have you try to install ghost 12 or 14 with Vista SP1? A simple question and answer. Yes or NO. If yes, then it is a simple to install again for me. If no, then Norton must solve it themselves not putting my time into it.
I'll go ahead and answer your questions first. Yes, I have installed both Ghost 12 and 14 on Vista SP1 and have been able to set up and perform multiple backups across multiple machines. My questions are only to try and pinpoint where the problem is occuring for you and to come up with a solution.

I am unable to open the main Ghost UI at all. When I cancel the message, The wizard will be closed.
After I upgrade to vista SP1, I cannot start ghost and there is an error message E1AD3212. Your staff had working on the problem for many times already. We tried many methods including uninstall the ghost using norton removal tool, then do a clean boot installation, still not working. even repeat the process and upgrade to ghost 14, uninstall norton 360 1.0 upgrade to norton 360 2.0, still get the same result and unable to start ghost after the installation. When I uninstall SP1, it works again.
I noticed that under your specification requirment note on vista sp1 with the following
The requirement is written that way to note that if a Windows Service Pack causes a problem, you are entitled to the update that will correct any problems. If you haven’t done so, you can run LiveUpdate to receive any updates. Go to Start, then Run, and type luall. That will allow you to run LiveUpdate.

Eventhough using forcing update by your technician. the problem remain as before.
I'm a little confused why you responded this way. In my last message I wrote:

You do not need to open the main UI to run LiveUpdate.
It was updated but the same problem existed.
Contact was sent via email. Please work with the technician that has contacted you so we can work towards a resolution.
I’m amazed that Symantic doesn’t even know what their own error message means. I am getting the same error and also can not run my Ghost 14. I have reinstalled a couple of times too. PLUS, I have Windows XP SP3, not Vista. It actually does work on my Vista SP1 machine. I’ve wasted my entire Saturday on this. I’ve previously gotten away from all Norton products but continued to use and upgrade my Ghost.

Hello,
I don't have Ghost 14 yet. I'm running an older version on another PC running XP (without any problems) but was looking at purchasing version 14 for my Vista SP 1 PC.
Is it at all possible to get an install file for version 14 that includes all of the SP1 compatibility patches so that a clean install would be fully compatible with my Vista SP1 PC from the start without the need for LiveUpdate.
Thank You
i totally agreed with you that they did not know their error message. I had done the update before installing too. Same problem. Their technicians does not know how to solve it yet. I am not using ghost 12 or 14 anymore. Totally lost confident.
